About the Author
Susan Todd-Raque is an independent curator, scholar, private dealer, appraiser, and lecturer on art history and the photographic arts. She has been the guest lecturer on various perspectives on contemporary and historical art at museums, colleges, and universities across the United States. Her published work includes essays in The Encyclopedia of Twentieth Century Photography (Routledge/Taylor & Francis), the monograph for "First Light: The Nexus Photographers" as well as numerous articles for Public Art Review, ArtPapers, Piedmont Reviews, Views, and the APG journals. Todd-Raque has taught at The Atlanta College of Art, Georgia State University, and Spelman. Co-founder of Atlanta Celebrates Photography, its annual lecture series, portfolio review and public art initiative, she has a B.S. in Commerce from DePaul University in Chicago, Illinois and a M.A. in Art History from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. In 2006 Todd-Raque organized a survey exhibition of the work of Sylvia Plachy and The Seasoned Eye. In 2007 for the Museum of Contemporary Art of Georgia she curated Responding to Home, an exhibition that traveled to the Appleton Museum of Art in Ocala, Florida. In 2008, Todd-Raque curated New York, New York: Photography by Sylvia Plachy; You Ain't Wrong: An Archive by William Boling and Black Belt Color: Photographs of Selma by Jerry Siegel. In 2009 amongst other projects, she is curating Complete Desire: A Collaboration of William Boling and Corinne Vionnet; Landscapes by John McWilliams; and What are you doing now: The Cell Phone Project.
