"Beyond Batting Average" does a fantastic job making complex baseball statistics accessible to average fans. In addition to telling the reader what goes into the statistic, the author gives easy to follow examples throughout the book. Unlike a number of writers that embrace advanced statistics, Panas doesn't attempt to dogmatically sell readers on the benefits of all the metrics he presents in this book. A Baseball Statistician's Dream! For all Baseball Lovers!

If you love baseball - I mean REALLY love the game for all it offers, down to the analysis and statistics; if you loved studying the backs of baseball cards as a kid, like I did, absorbing and eventually memorizing all the stats and had a bit of pride in the process, you will love this book! The author, Lee Panas, does an awesome job of laying it all out. I stumbled upon the book while looking for something deeper about the game - this is it! It's a fun and very informative read. I highly recommend it!

Must Have Baseball Book

Breaking down every aspect of the game in numbers Panas not only explains how to find these statistics, but who developed them, why they are used, and what the advantages and disadvantages of each one is.
